Nothing left but the discount
By the second week of December the creative library is empty. Not thin. Empty.
Everything the team made this autumn was made for November. Every hook was a number, every end card was a date, every headline was built around the size of the cut. The offers closed on the first, with Cyber Monday, and what is left in the account is a folder of ads that no longer say anything true.
So what runs is the November winner with the number cut out.
I have watched this from the platform side more times than I can count. The same video, the same first three seconds, the same pacing built to land on a price, and where the price was there is now a product name, or a line about quality, or nothing at all. The edit is clean. The hole is not. The customer cannot say what is missing, but they can feel the shape of it, the way you can tell a room has had a picture taken down.
The ad was built to deliver a number. Without the number it delivers a pause.
This is the sunk thing. The winning ad was the most expensive asset the team produced all year, and it is worth almost nothing now, because the price was the idea and the price is gone. Editing it does not recover the cost. It spends more money reaching people with an argument that has already ended.
The strongest December accounts I have seen do something that looks simple. They run creative with no date in it at all. No offer, no countdown, no last chance. The product, a reason, a person using it. It was made in October, before the season started, by a team that was already busy making November.
Which is why it so rarely exists. October is the month nobody has time to make the ad that will carry December, and December is the month everyone finds out.
