Spend loyalty on making things better
When customers will not leave you, you can use their loyalty in one of two ways. You can cash it in, or you can spend it asking them for a change that takes effort but leaves them better off.
Cashing in is the usual choice. Prices creep up, portions shrink, the care slips. Nobody walks out, because nobody was going to.
Picture a coffee seller in an old Riyadh souq, where families have bought his ground coffee for decades. He could start selling the beans whole and ask his regulars to grind at home each morning. A stranger would walk away. A regular grumbles, buys a grinder, and a month later the coffee he makes at home tastes better than it has in years.
Every real change makes people uneasy. It asks them to learn something new, and some will complain at first. Without loyalty, those complaints send people to the shop next door. With it, they stay long enough to find out why you asked.
So if your customers trust you, spend that trust well. Not on taking a little more each year, and not just on making things easier. Spend it on helping them get something they actually want, even when it takes effort on both sides.
Your loyal customers are the only ones who will let you ask this much. Do not waste that on a price rise.
