The account works the holiday
Today is a public holiday in Egypt and an ordinary working Thursday in Riyadh and Dubai. The account knows neither.
At midnight it took its daily budget and began spending it exactly the way it spent Tuesday. Same caps, same audiences, same creative in rotation, same pacing curve. There is no field in any platform for whose holiday it is.
Somebody could have decided otherwise. Pull the Egyptian caps back for a day and let the Gulf run, because the Gulf is at its desk and Cairo is not. Or the opposite, if the category is one people buy on a day off. Either call would be defensible. The person who could make it is on the same holiday as the market.
So the money goes out on the settings, and what comes back gets filed. Cost per result up in one country, down in another, volume thin all afternoon. By Sunday the week has an average and the average has eaten the day. Three months later that week is the baseline somebody plans against, and it carries a Thursday nobody was watching.
I have seen this often enough from the platform side to stop calling it carelessness. Nobody is being lazy. The account is doing precisely what it was told, on a day when nobody told it anything.
A holiday is not a pause in the account. It is the day the account shows you which of its decisions are decisions, and which ones are settings that have been running since whoever set them last thought about it.
