Waiting for the perfect morning

· 1 min read

Some people only work when the conditions are ideal. The light has to be right, the week has to be quiet, the idea has to arrive fully formed. Anything less, and they let the day go by.

It looks like taste. Often it is a quiet kind of wealth: the assumption that mornings are in endless supply and the next one will be better.

Think of someone in Sharjah running a small online shop from her kitchen table. On a plain Tuesday she has half an idea for a new product photo, a little energy, and an hour before the school run. It is not her best hour. So she tells herself she will do it properly at the weekend, when the house is calm.

The weekend arrives with its own errands. The half idea has gone soft. The good hour was the one she already had.

When things are going well, it is easy to be picky about days. Early in a career, or in a business that is growing, there always seems to be another chance tomorrow. Later you notice that the days which felt merely decent were the ones that held most of the work.

A little curiosity is enough to write the first paragraph. A little health is enough for the walk. A little clarity is enough to make the call you have been putting off.

The great day is rare, and nobody can book it in advance. Nearly every other day can be a good one. That part is a decision, not a forecast.
