The code under the post
Field note, from the accounts. Every identity day looks the same from the platform side.
The post goes up in the morning. Sepia, a landscape, a line about roots, no product and no price. It is the thing the brand will talk about for a week.
Underneath it, since Monday, a discount code has been live. It is in the story, in the link in the bio, in the email that went out midweek and in two creators' captions. It is usually named after the day itself.
The sales curve starts on Monday, with the code, days before the post that is supposed to have caused it. By the time the heritage film reaches the feed, most of what the day will sell has already been sold, to people who came for a number.
Read the code's name and you have the whole plan. A code named after a national day is a sale borrowing the day, and borrowing is fine, as long as everybody in the building knows that is what happened.
Usually they do not. The post is what gets sent upward. The code is what gets sent to the customer.
If the code did the work, the brand did not do Founding Day. It ran a sale, in period dress. The customer can tell those two apart without being told, which is why they came for the code.
