The sale is decided before the page

· 1 min read

What sells is the reason someone came, not the page they land on. So that is where most of your effort belongs.

It is tempting to keep polishing the page instead. A sharper photo, a shorter line of text, a button in a brighter colour. None of that is wrong. It just rarely changes who buys.

Think of someone in Jeddah who sells handmade soap from a page on her phone and redoes the photos most evenings. Her orders come from people who used a bar at a friend's house and asked who made it. They would buy from a blurry picture. The people who followed her to win a free bar never order at all.

No layout can make a person want something they never wanted. A page can only meet the people who already do.

So put your effort earlier, into why people come at all. Who tells them about you? What would make the right person curious enough to look?

When people have a reason to come, sales grow without anyone touching the page.

If nobody has a reason to come, the best page in the world sells nothing.
